Why Do Bearded Dragons Glass Surf

Bearded dragons engage in glass surfing mainly due to environmental factors, stress, anxiety, territorial behavior, health issues, and lack of stimulation. Glass surfing is a behavior where the bearded dragon repeatedly runs along the sides of its enclosure. This behavior is often a sign of distress and can be attributed to various factors. Environmental factors such as inadequate enclosure size or incorrect temperature and lighting can lead to stress and discomfort for the bearded dragon, causing them to engage in glass surfing. Additionally, if the bearded dragon feels threatened or insecure in its environment, it may exhibit territorial behavior by glass surfing. Health issues, such as parasites or digestive problems, can also contribute to this behavior. Lastly, a lack of mental and physical stimulation can lead to boredom and restlessness, prompting the bearded dragon to engage in glass surfing. Therefore, it is important for bearded dragon owners to carefully assess and address these underlying causes to ensure the well-being of their reptile companions.
