Bearded dragons do not sweat like humans do. Instead, they have a unique thermoregulation system that helps them regulate their body temperature. These reptiles have specialized glands called “femoral pores” located on the underside of their thighs. These pores secrete a waxy substance that helps them cool down. When a bearded dragon feels too hot, it will rub its legs together, spreading the waxy substance on its skin. As this substance evaporates, it helps to dissipate heat and keep the bearded dragon cool. So, while bearded dragons don’t sweat like we do, they have their own clever way of staying cool.
